Our Specialized Ophthalmologists

Patricia H. Peffer, MD
Board Certified Ophthalmologist

Patricia H. Peffer, MD

Specializing in Adult Eye Care, Adult Vision Needs & Glaucoma in Greater Boston Massachusetts.

Patricia H. Peffer is a board certified ophthalmologist who practices medical ophthalmology with a focus on adult eye care and vision needs. She was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. There she attended LSU Medical School, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society and, in 1986, received the Janet M. Glascow Memorial Achievement Citation awarded to female medical students who finish in the top ten percent of their graduating class. She went on to complete a four-year ophthalmology residency at the LSU Eye Center New Orleans in 1991.

In August of 1991, she went into private practice at Eye Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA. There she became the first female partner of a large group of ophthalmologists and practiced clinical and surgical eye care, specializing in cataract and refractive surgery.

In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the Louisiana gulf coast, and Dr. Peffer left Eye Medical Center and relocated in northwest Colorado. Unable to find local work, she began filling locum tenens positions in multiple states. Intermittently for several years she performed clinical ophthalmology and supervised eye residents affiliated with Tulane Medical School at the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System in Biloxi and Pensacola.

She later worked in Kentucky and Alabama, traveling to schools for on-site eye screening on children (pre K-12). Then in 2011, she moved to Worcester, MA, where she joined UMass Memorial Medical Group to practice general ophthalmology and restart their cataract surgery program. She became an assistant professor for the University of Massachusetts Medical School, teaching students, residents, and staff while in the clinic and operating room, as well as in the emergency department and during hospital inpatient eye consults.

Excited to now practice in the beautiful South Shore area of Massachusetts, Dr Peffer looks forward to examining and treating your eye needs, as well as sharing her knowledge and dedication to eye care.

His Quiet Ways Are Very Calming in a Frightening Situation.

"Dr. Kadrmas is my hero. After three macular holes, I have gotten to know him very well. His quiet ways are very calming in a frightening situation. He always answered all my questions and was very careful to explain just what I could expect. The Monday Mashpee crew is the best! Friendly, helpful, and extremely professional. After more than five years, we are finally on a first name basis! READ MORE
