Richard W. Strecker, MD
Board Certified Ophthalmologist
Dr. Richard W. Strecker is a board certified ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience in helping people see their best. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Strecker performed his internship at Tufts University Hospitals before moving south to complete his ophthalmology residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, where he was chief resident.
During his residency, Dr. Strecker trained under notable eye surgeons including Marshall Parks, MD, who is known as the father of pediatric ophthalmology, and Mark Whitten, MD, Tiger Woods' LASIK surgeon.
Dr. Strecker returned home to Massachusetts after completing his medical training and has been practicing opthalmology in the greater Boston and South Shore since. While he tends to focus on adult patients in his practice, Dr. Strecker welcomes patients of all ages into his practice, including pediatric patients.
Dr. Strecker is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the New England Ophthalmological Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgery.
Dr. Strecker is an advisory board member and medical / surgical eye consultant for the Massachusetts Boxing Commission, which oversees the safety of amateur and professional boxing in the Baystate. Dr. Strecker also serves as chairman for the Laser Safety Committee at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Plymouth, ensuring the safe use of hospital lasers for ophthalmology and other medical / surgical subspecialties at BID - Plymouth.
