Nerve Fiber Analysis
A nerve fiber analysis test will detect any damage to the nerve fiber layer around the optic nerve due to glaucoma. This process is painless and takes approximately five minutes.
The test consists of a scanning laser used to measure the thickness of the nerve fiber layer around the optic nerve. The results are compared to a 'normal' profile of someone your age, as well as to any previous tests you’ve had.
Since your eyes do not have to be dilated, you will be able to drive after the testing, provided you are not having another dilated eye test on the same day. Nerve fiber analysis is done at all of our offices with the exception of Middleboro.
