Office-based, Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery

Kadrmas Eye Care New England has always been on the “cutting edge” in eye surgery. Eddie F. Kadrmas, MD, PhD, a board-certified ophthalmologist and retinal specialist, was instrumental in helping develop small incision retinal surgery and the move of retinal surgery from the hospital to the surgicenter location.  The trend continues.  Now technology has advanced to allow true office-based laser cataract surgery. Through Dr. Kadrmas’ direction, Kadrmas Eye Care New England is the first eye center in New England to offer office-based cataract surgery.

“We now have the capability to offer our patients premium cataract surgery right here in our office, where patients can obtain the most technologically advanced surgery available today,” says Dr. Kadrmas. In their new facility at Kadrmas Eye Care New England in Plymouth, laser-assisted cataract surgery can be performed in as little as 10 minutes. “The results are truly amazing with the laser making the procedure more precise, predictable, and much less traumatic,” Dr Kadrmas states.  “We believe office-based laser surgery is the future of cataract surgery which will eventually supplant most traditional surgery options for many patients.” Dr. Kadrmas designed his new center to accommodate the new office-based surgery concept.

Patients at Kadrmas Eye Care New England will enjoy their experience dealing with a familiar environment with familiar staff who they have come to know through their experience and exams at the eye center. Depending on the patient’s insurance, office-based surgery can also decrease copayments, anesthesia or facility fees commonly associated with surgical centers and hospitals.

In addition to the benefits of laser-assisted cataract surgery, patients can opt for premium lens implants to correct for astigmatism as well as multifocal and extended depth of focus implants to correct for distance, intermediate, and near vision. “One of the additional benefits of performing cataract surgery with the laser is that small degrees of astigmatism can be corrected at the same time,” says Dr. Kadrmas.

Personalized and customized cataract eye surgery is a reality at Kadrmas Eye Care New England. You can experience the difference today!

Kadrmas Eye Care New England’s new Plymouth location is at 55 Commerce Way, at the corner of Industrial Park Road and Christa McAuliffe Boulevard. You can call 508-746-8600 to schedule your consultation.
